Born in 1961, Laurent Cabasso studies at the Paris Conservatoire National
Supérieur de Musique, where he obtains the Piano First Prize (1979) as well
as the Chamber Music Prize (1980). He then studies with Nikita Magaloff,
György Sebok, György Sandor and Norbert Braïnin in Paris, as well as with
Maria Curcio-Diamand in London.
Laurent Cabasso is winner of several prestigious competitions (Alex de Vries
Prize in 1977, Zurich Geza Anda in 1982, Tokyo in 1983).
He gives numerous recitals in France (Pleyel and Gaveau concert halls in
Paris, La Roque d¹Anthéron Piano Festival), Amsterdam (Concertgebouw,
Victoria Hall), Zurich (Tonhalle), Salzburg (Festspielhaus), etc. He also
works with major orchestras: Suisse Romande, Monte Carlo, Zurich, Capitole
de Toulouse, Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne,
Orchestre National de Lyon, Orchestre National de France, Orchestre National
de Lille.
His repertoire is very wide: Mozart and Chopin, Schumann and Rachmaninov,
Beethoven, Liszt.
Teaching is also very important for Laurent Cabasso : he currently teaches
at the Paris C.N.S.M. and at the Strasbourg C.N.R.
His many recordings often get warm critics: Schumann, Prokofiev or
Saint-Saëns "Carnaval des Animaux". |
